Artists in Unity is excited to announce that Silent Dance- our first short dance film is complete and off to Screen dance festivals both nationally and internationally. It is our intention as a collaborative multidisciplinary company to present the film within the Lehigh Valley and beyond. As company Artistic Director, I feel passionately about sharing this work with students studying in dance/theater/music/and film. I also want to share this project with the Lehigh Valley community since they have been following the developments of Artists in Unity for the last three years. They have seen me grow as an artist in dance to an artistic director who wants to bring more artists into the creative processes and future of AIU. The Lehigh Valley is our home base as a company and it is my number one goal with Artists in Unity to create more multidisciplinary work and to carry out our 3 C’s commitment of our mission –
1. CREATING art for the better of all people
2. COLLABORATING with professional artists of varying genre
3. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT through performances, residency programs, and events
The film has multiple layers behind it from creating an idea, choreography, cinematography, and composition of a score, dancers, musicians, and overall presentation of an artistic project. In the arts world every discipline is becoming more than one discipline. The beauty of Silent Dance was not complete until all these disciplines, complexities, and layers came together.
The next step for Artists in Unity is to present our finished project of Silent Dance. Our intention is to ask arts organizations, colleges, and conservatory programs to house the work that we have developed over the past two year. We are also reaching out to invite your fellow community members to watch this multidisciplinary art presentation so they can see what AIU wants to offer the Lehigh Valley in years to come.
Artists in Unity is already mapping out our next film project for Screen dance and reaching out to other artists that are in need of our assistance for developing their own work in dance/film/and music. It is wonderful to see that all the work of Silent Dance is now leading us to future work with other artists. My connections in NYC/NJ/ and even on the west coast are now reaching out to be a part of it all. I remember when I was 18 years old and wanting a company so very badly and now it is all developing in front of my eyes and company members’ eyes. It is a beautiful and warm place to be and I am very grateful for every opportunity to get this work of Silent Dance and our future work for AIU out to community and artistic organizations in the Lehigh Valley and beyond.
The release date for Silent Dance can be as early as August 2013. Artists in Unity will be preparing live stage work and possibly short film excerpts for our future Screen dance project to share with community along with our presentation of Silent Dance. AIU would like to share an open chat with community about the developments of Silent Dance and the future work of the company after our live stage and film presentation.
